Not Short, But to the Point
There comes a time in every life when one must choose between that which is popular and that which is right. The two are most usually diametrically opposed.
One must choose also between personal power/political power OR serving God, even if that means losing or relinquishing the fomer in order to achieve the latter.
If that "alienates" a certain sector of conservatives or "an important portion of their current plurality" so be it. I don't give a flying duck if those that think primarily with their gonads, or those who form their lives around their most base instincts or the electro-chemical blips that flit across their grey matter, are alienated.
In other words, those sectors which consider themselves part of the plurality that helped the conservatives achieve power can go take a flying leap if they don't like those who are putting God first. I don't care at all about pleasing them, I don't care about appeasing them, I don't care about compromising with them, I don't care about sharing power with them. It will be a subzero day in hell when I sacrifice integrity, dignity, and my duty to God in order to wallow in the muck with abortionists or other filth that claim to espouse some conservative points of view, but only those which they pick and choose as though they were in a cafeteria serving line.
Political clout doesn't amount to diddly-squat in the grand scheme of things. It comes and goes in a more fickle and feckless manner than the change of wind or tide. I've weathered more worthless worldly presidents than just Jimmy Carter and Billy Clinton, and God knows as long as I'm alive I'll have to weather more monstrosities like them. After all, they too were popular in their day, popular even now among some still deluded individuals.
When you start trying to please everyone, you inevitably and inescapably end by pleasing no one, not yourself and certainly not God. To try to please them all is truly building your house upon the sand.
Is this stance popular? No. So what? Popularity and the new political correctness from both sides of the aisle be damned. It will be.
You've been told and NOW YOU KNOW.
