A Christmas Gift for You
Don't worry; I won't usually have this type of post for you all. However, in the spirit of Christmas, here is the first of two poems for you by yours truly:
Mistletoe II
It hung above the archway in the hall,
But other decorations made it seem
As though it were not hanging there at all,
Eclipsed by all the glitter, shine and gleam
Around the room and on a tree so tall
It almost touched the vaulted ceiling's beam.
Who would have guessed a sprig so slight and small
Was dangling like a half-forgotten dream
Or like a name you almost could recall,
If memory did not already teem
With all the Christmas guests who’ve come to call
Each yuletide in an ever-growing stream.
To think what I'd have lost, if I had missed
The mistletoe beneath which we first kissed!
