Now You Know

No, by the grace of God, you will NOT plead ignorance. You will NOT testify that you never knew any better because no one ever taught you anything better. You will not plead that you were never told.

Terri Schiavo Case Update from Fr. Johansen

Father Rob Johansen of the blog Thrown Back has a thorough update on the most recent hearings before Judge Greer in Florida regarding Terri Schiavo.

Please go read and see what Fr. Johansen has to report. It is not good news.

Having read it, it makes me wonder how this Judge Greer can even live with himself. He evidently is unaware that he will himself meet a Higher Judge one day.

Although I should no longer be shocked by such unmitigated evil, nevertheless I was still shocked by this bit in particular:

Judge Greer denied, without hearing arguments or evidence, the Schindlers' request that Terri be allowed to receive Viaticum (Holy Communion for the dying) by mouth. Judge Greer ruled that if Terri is to be given Communion, it must be done via her feeding tube.

. . . The order regarding Viaticum, besides being cruel and bizarre (only the tiniest fraction of the Host or the tiniest drop of the Precious Blood need be placed on her tongue), serves to preserve Michael Schiavo and George Felos' contention that Terri cannot receive anything by mouth. Of course, they have
never permitted a swallowing test, so we just have to take their word for it. The last thing they want is the spectacle of Terri taking anything by mouth, as that might cause people to start wondering if Terri might just be able to eat.
There is something truly Satanic about a judge who would deny a person the right to receive the sacrament of communion.

And to show the extent of the wickedness on a more mundane plane, the judge also ruled that Michael Schiavo can have his wife cremated upon death without benefit of an autopsy. In one fell swoop, the judge has not only made himself an accomplice to attempted murder, he has also provided Michael Schiavo the means with which to hide his crimes.

Last but not least is this disgusting little bit about George Felos, the attorney for Michael Schiavo:
In Terri's '98 hearings, Felos infamously advocated what he called the "spoon test". The test of whether one is a person with a full right to life, he said, is whether he/she can raise a spoon to his lips unaided. If you have a relative who is paralyzed or otherwise unable to feed himself, watch out: In George Felos' world, they're fair game for his tender advocacy of their "right" to die.

What can you do? Terrisfight.org and Blogs for Terri have some concrete, practical things that you can do. Please visit them by clicking on the provided links. They have names and all the necessary contact information for people with whom you can get in touch. They have a wealth of information regarding the entire case and dispelling media myths about Terri.

I beg you to educate yourselves and to become involved. You won't just be fighting for Terri's life; you might just be fighting for the right to life of yourself or a loved one. You might just be fighting to see that no judge or court will ever be able to deny you the sacraments or rites of your own religion.

I truly pray that you will not turn your backs on Terri and her family, the Schindlers.

You've been told and NOW YOU KNOW.
